Corrosion is a very serious and costly maintenance problem. These problems can lead to equipment failures, loss of production, loss of revenues, and most importantly, health and safety issues. Corrosion failures can range from a simple annoyance to being catastrophic.
Using a wide range of different systems from rust lock primers to polyurea instant set coatings, we apply several different corrosion protection systems for both ferrous and nonferrous metals. Our coatings can be handled and walked on in less than five minutes after use, leaving your customer with less downtime and saving them thousands of dollars in damaged equipment.
At Ontario Protective Coatings we specialize in sandblasting a wide range of items, including
Sandblasting allows us to remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, and contamination in preparation for a high performance coating. We abrasive blast (sandblast) steel, iron, copper, brass, aluminum and glass. We can achieve profiles from 0.5 mils to 5 mils deep. We abrasive blast (sandblast) new or old materials, remove rust, paints, stains and glues. We are able to offer all blasting levels from SSPC-SP5 white metal blasting, to SSPC-SP7 brush-off blast cleaning, depending upon the needs of the client and the coating system that's been chosen.
Pressure washing is the bare minimum of cleaning methods recommended for preparation of exterior surfaces. Exterior paint will chalk overtime when exposed to the sun, and this chalked film will break the bond of any future paint coatings applied over it. It is important to remove all the chalked film prior to coating, or you will have a very short life paint system, regardless of the quality or performance characteristics of the paint.
Ultra-high-pressure washing can also be used to clean corroded areas and can sometimes be used as an alternative to grit blasting. The end result will depend on the condition of the surface prior to beginning and the depth OPC will take to achieve the finished result needed. Compact corrosion scale cannot be completely removed at a reasonable rate until pressures exceed 2100 kg/cm2 (30,000 psi) Ontario Protective Coatings is a qualified high- pressure washing contractor able to tackle projects of any size.
